History of Sehwan Sharif

Sehwan is believed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Sindh. Historians associate it with the ancient city of Sindimana, mentioned during the campaigns of Alexander the Great in 326 BC. Throughout history, the city came under the rule of various dynasties including the Rai, Brahman, Arab, Sumra, Samma, Mughal and Talpur rulers.

Its greatest fame came in the 13th century with the arrival of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (1177–1274), whose message of peace, love and tolerance continues to inspire millions of devotees regardless of religion or background.
